MARKHAM, ON - April 10, 2006 -- CBL Data Recovery Technologies Inc. (CBL), a leading international provider of data recovery services, is pleased to announce the company is a finalist for the 2006 Leonardo da Vinci Award for Creativity & Innovation in Business. The award will be presented at a gala celebration to be held April 15 at Toronto's CN Tower to mark the occasion of Leonardo da Vinci's 554th birthday. The event kicks off Creativity & Innovation Week which is held annually from April 15 to April 21.
CBL is among five finalists in the Business category from the Greater-Toronto Area. CBL has been nominated by the Town of Markham for the creativity and innovation CBL constantly demonstrates to develop new techniques to recover data from past, present and next generation data storage media. The company is a living example of Dimonstrazione, one of the seven da Vincian principles.
"Together with my business partner, Zhengong Chang, we have built our business by living the da Vincian principle, Dimonstratzione," says Bill Margeson, President and Co-founder of CBL Data Recovery Technologies Inc. "Each and every day CBL staff, as the da Vincian principle states, exhibit a commitment to test knowledge through experience, persistence, and willingness to learn from mistakes. It is an honour to be selected as a finalist for the creativity and innovation CBL employees demonstrate to assist customers when data disaster strikes."
CBL encourages the sharing of knowledge, especially the knowledge that employees gain from mistakes. CBL engineers around the globe recover missing data from the hard disk drives of personal computers, laptops, single disk or multi-disk servers known as RAIDS as well as tape drives, iPods, flashcards and the memory sticks of digital cameras.
Each recovery project is unique so it is beneficial for CBL staff to share the knowledge they acquire from previous jobs with coworkers and be persistent when a new job presents a new recovery challenge.
Adds Margeson, "CBL's selection as a finalist is recognition of the efforts of all employees around the globe whose creativity and innovation have powered change and improvements to the ways CBL assists customers worldwide to recover data when the unthinkable happens and they lose critical data."
"Markham's reputation as Canada's high tech capital is built on the success of local companies like CBL," says Markham Mayor Don Cousens. "I've had the privilege of watching CBL grow its business worldwide for more than a decade. It's an honour to have an innovative pioneer in data recovery such as CBL continue to maintain its roots in our community while it reaps the rewards of its hard work and creativity as a global company. Congratulations to the CBL team on its success."
"CBL is one of many successful technology companies which the Town of Markham can proudly claim has established its global headquarters in our municipality," says Stephen Chait, Director of Economic Development, Town of Markham. "Not only has the creativity and innovation of CBL Data Recovery Technologies raised Markham's visibility abroad, citizens and organizations within the GTA and beyond have come to rely on CBL's unique and innovative data recovery service to assist them during a crisis when they can no longer access the data on their computers."
