CBL Data Recovery discounts service by 35% for flood-damaged computers in Western Canada

~ Don't Throw Out the Hard Drive with the Flood Water:
Data on Water-Ravaged Computers is Recoverable ~

MARKHAM, ON, June 19, 2007 - CBL Data Recovery Technologies Inc., a leading international provider of data recovery services, is extending to business and residential users in Western Canada affected by recent flooding and rain a 35 per cent discount off the cost of data recovery services.

Many parts of Western Canada were vulnerable to flooding due to heavy rainfall and spring run off. Residents living near Calgary are on notice after tributaries of the Bow River surged after record rainfall over the weekend. Earlier this month, more than 1,000 homes across British Columbia were on evacuation alert due to threat of flooding. In May, Saskatchewan drivers were put on alert to watch for potential highway flooding and bridge washouts.

"Personal safety should be everyone's foremost concern when bad weather hits," says Bill Margeson, president and CEO of CBL Data Recovery Technologies Inc. "Once the initial crisis has passed, businesses then look to repair the damage caused by flooding and that can involve lost data due to water damaged personal computers and servers."

If data backups are kept on CDs or DVDs offsite, the risk of data loss is dramatically reduced. However, if business and residential users return home or to the office to find flood-damaged PCs and servers, they should not throw in the towel. When taking assessment of their losses, computer users should know data is very resilient and is recoverable.

Whether the data is last month's sales yet to be invoiced or personal files on the home computer, regularly backing up data on CDs and DVDs and storing them in a separate location is a best practice to follow regardless of where Canadians work or live.

"Business owners shouldn't delay taking the necessary actions to have the hard drives of their computers evaluated by data recovery experts to minimize business interruptions," adds Margeson. "Data is a critical element of the operations of Canadian businesses. When access to data is denied and companies suffer data loss, it can be crippling."

CBL is Canada's independent data recovery specialist. Its team of data recovery experts recovers data from all forms of digital storage media regardless of the manufacturer's platform or operating system in its laboratory in Markham, Ontario. In addition, affected storage media may be sent to CBL through participating The UPS Store and Mailboxes Etc. retail locations across Canada at no charge to customers.
