Markham, ON -- March 11, 2009 --
As the April 30 deadline to prepare and file electronically personal income tax and benefit returns approaches, CBL Data Recovery Technologies Inc. advises Canadians to backup their computers. For individuals who use desktop tax applications and incur a data loss disaster as the tax deadline looms, CBL extends a 50 percent discount off the cost to recover tax-related data until April 30, 2009.
Engineers will expedite “tax” projects through CBL’s secure Markham laboratory and return successfully recovered data and files created by 2009 NETFILE-certified tax preparation software solutions including eTaxCanada, FutureTax 2008, GenuTax, H&R Block Premium Tax Software, myTaxExpress 2008, StudioTax 2008, TaxFreeway, Taxnic, TaxTron, and UFile.
“Canadians do not need the added stress of not being able to access their financial data and files at tax time,” states Tim Margeson, General Manager, CBL Data Recovery Technologies Inc. “CBL will promptly process tax-related jobs after first conducting a free evaluation of the hard drive. Customers also may select to receive their recovered data via a secure FTP transmission at no additional cost.”
Individuals and professional tax preparers who suffer data loss at any time of the day or night can contact CBL and speak with a customer service representative at 1-800-551-3917. Recovery cases can also be submitted online at www.cbltech.ca.
Margeson also warns Canadians who prepare income tax returns and maintain personal and financial records on laptops, desktop PCs or servers, “Wipe the hard drive clean of any and all sensitive data before you dispose of a computer. Confidential records such as financial files of customers can be recovered by individuals with less than honourable intentions if a computer ends up in the wrong hands. Deleting files does not erase them from the drive. It only makes it challenging to locate them. It’s advisable to use an utility like CBL Data Shredder to wipe a drive clean of all data thereby reducing the risk of identity theft, too.”
CBL Data Shredder is available to download for free at
